Bovis Homes decreasing housing output in 2017 to improve quality

// HA News

Housebuilder Bovis Homes Group PLC has today announced that they intend to slow the rate of production in 2017 by 10-15% below the 2016 level.

This is to increase the focus on quality rather than quantity and address some of the key issues relating to customer satisfaction and service over the next 10 months.

Interim Chief Executive Earl Sibley commented “Our customer service standards have been declining for some time and combined with the delays to production towards the year end, we have entered 2017 with a high level of customer service issues.

“The Group has taken a one-off £7 million customer care provision in 2016 to address this high level of customer issues.”

Chairman Ian Tyler added "The process of transformation is already underway under Interim Chief Executive Earl Sibley's leadership and I am confident the plans in place will address the operational weaknesses we have seen in our business, and focus us once again on delivering high quality product and service to our customer.

"Further, we are undertaking a strategic and structural review of the business to ensure we meet our commitment to deliver the highest possible returns from our valuable land assets."
