And that is exactly why we are so pleased to see our Supervisor, Kian Tynan, win The Asbestos Industry Trainee/Apprentice of the Year Award at The British Asbestos Awards recently held at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London St Paul’s.
 

With the latest Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) guidance placing greater focus on Falls Between Levels, now is the time for housing providers to review their opening window safety measures and assess what the updated guidance means, and is having a restrictor fitted adequate.

The HHSRS provides a useful reminder that housing safety is about identifying and managing risk, rather than simply ticking off products or features. HHSRS covers 21 potential hazards, including Falls Between Levels: falls from one level to another, such as through a window where guarding or edge protection is too low or defective.

Run by the UK Radon Association (UKRA), the 2025 campaign theme is ‘Invisible Gas, Visible Risk’, with the UKRA calling on the Government to improve awareness in homes, schools and workplaces. This year, Airtech is backing the UKRA’s appeal for strong Government action to tackle the hidden threat posed by radon gas. The UKRA has written an open letter to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP, calling for decisive steps to reduce the UK’s exposure to this ‘invisible killer’.
