Elemental content theatres at InstallerSHOW 2022

There has never been a sharper focus on how we heat and power our buildings. With fuel prices soaring and deadlines for energy-efficiency improvements fast approaching, housing developers and social landlords are at the forefront of the challenge to decarbonise our homes, both new and existing. It’s with this in mind that the elemental content theatres, which are free-to-attend and running alongside InstallerSHOW at Birmingam’s NEC in June, have been put together.

Designed for an audience of social housing and built environment professionals, the three-day conference programme will feature thought-provoking discussion and an opportunity to learn about the key issues facing the industry when it comes to energy and heat.

Visitors to the event will be able to hear about sustainable housing projects that are being created today, as well as have a glimpse into the future to see what housing will look like as the country heads towards net zero. Some of the highlights of the conference programme will include how big data can help to achieve an energy-efficient retrofit, what the changes to Building Regs and the Future Homes Standard will mean for social housing and a session on what housing associations and local authorities need to know about local energy generation.

Confirmed speakers so far include environmental campaigner Jonathon Porrit, who will be delivering a keynote speech on 22nd June. Attendees will also hear from experts from organisations including Wates Group, Cheltenham Borough Council, Birmingham City Council, Energy Saving Trust, PEPA, Genesis Housing and many more. There will also be a series of seminars and panel discussions run by BEAMA, with topics to include making heating systems fit for the future and how high-tech housing can work.

The theatres will be hosted by Dhruti Shah, Fiona Harvey and Jim McClelland, three journalists with extensive experience in sustainability and environmental issues.

Elsewhere at InstallerSHOW, visitors can discover the latest green technology, including in the Wates Innovation Zone. This area will feature exclusive product demos from a host of extensively vetted suppliers who can offer genuine, market-leading sustainable technology to help in the design, construction, maintenance and use of buildings. Just some of the innovators within the Wates Innovation Network include Solar glass, Hydrotap, Ecoprod, Beanbag, Dyson, Altecnic, Elysator and Mixergy.
