A poll of tenanted households, conducted by YouGov on behalf of Safeguard Europe, the UK’s leading specialist in damp-proofing and waterproofing technology, has revealed a new North-South divide. Renters living in the South are more likely to encounter damp and mould in their homes than those living in the North.
The poll of 1,154 tenants, conducted earlier this year, found that in London, the East of England and the South East, the highest proportion of tenants reported encountering damp or mould while living in rented accommodation at 63%, 60% and 56% respectively. Meanwhile, fewer tenants had experienced such problems in the East Midlands, the North East and Scotland at 39%, 39% and 40% respectively.
Peterborough based architectural and decorative casing solutions specialist, Encasement Ltd, has acquired Pendock as part of its strategy to expand into new market sectors, while increasing production capacity with the addition of Pendock’s UK based manufacturing facilities.

High specification windows and doors from AluK are at the heart of a recently completed residential development on Cardiff’s Bute East Dock which combines both new build apartments and affordable homes.
Schooner Wharf is the first open market scheme to be developed by Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA), who were working in partnership with main contractors Morganstone.

A new range of innovative and easy-to-install railings have been unveiled by leading railings supplier F.H. Brundle.
The stunning Marano railings include pre-assembled aluminium posts, available in square and round profile, with a satin anodised finish. The system can be installed with or without a rectangular or oval top rail.
Crittall Windows has been selected to manufacture and install replacement steel fenestration for one of London’s most iconic high-rise residential blocks.
Trellick Tower remains a major symbol of the Brutalist architectural style of the 1970s. With its distinctive separate lift and service tower, connected to the main structure by aerial walkways, the 98-metre-tall, 31-storey edifice is a significant landmark in West London.
