After 18 months of virtual events, Aico is delighted to return to physical exhibitions. On 7th-10th September, the European Market Leader in Home Life Safety exhibited at two events simultaneously, Housing 2021 and The Fire Safety Event, to promote best practice and the latest technology.
Housing 2021 is the Chartered Institute of Housing’s award-winning annual conference and Europe’s leading housing festival, which took place at the Manchester Central Convention Complex. The event provides a platform for the housing sector to come together to discuss, debate, partner, learn and improve the lives of the people they house.

Rochester-based balcony components manufacturer AliDeck made an important contribution last year to the national debate on fire safety in high-rise buildings with the publication of the Balcony Fires Report 2017 to 2020.
Collating data from UK Fire and Rescue Services on the prevalence and causes of balcony fires across the country, the report was shocking; at least 873 fires on balconies were recorded nationally across the period, with almost half of them caused by smoking materials such as carelessly discarded cigarettes.
Aico were honoured to receive Her Royal Highness Princess Anne to their headquarters on Friday 8th October, in recognition of their impact as a prominent business in Shropshire.
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal arrived at Aico headquarters in Oswestry, Shropshire and was met by Aico’s Managing Director Neal Hooper, alongside local dignitaries Mandy Thorn, Deputy Lieutenant of Shropshire, Councillor Vince Hunt, Chairman of Shropshire Council, Owen Paterson, North Shropshire MP, Councillor Mark Jones, Mayor of Oswestry and Ruth Jones, Mayoress of Oswestry.

Aico are proud to announce their commitment to the Climate Pledge, as part of their drive towards sustainable business practices and achieving net zero carbon.
The Climate Pledge was founded by Amazon and Global Optimism and brings together a cross-sector community of companies and organisations to tackle the climate crisis and become net zero carbon across their businesses, by the year 2040.
With the majority of social housing tenants having contracts directly with electricity suppliers, you could be forgiven for wondering how housing associations could benefit from upgrading conventional meters to smart meters. In fact, there are many advantages for both housing associations and tenants.
In 2019 the UK Government legislated to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. One result of this has been to put pressure on housing associations to decarbonise the UK’s social housing stock, though housing associations in some areas need to move even faster because local authorities have committed to decarbonisation by 2030.
The Cairngorm Group tasked leading window and door fittings distributor Carl F Groupco with managing their hardware transition during a recent PVCu profile changeover. Putting trust in their 16-year partnership, the two-month project was delivered by the multiskilled team at Carl F Groupco headed by Pamela Wilson, Regional Sales Manager for Scotland who has worked closely with the Cairngorm team throughout the longstanding partnership.
The profile changeover was time-sensitive, and the transition needed to be smooth to ensure business saw no detrimental effects. Throughout the supply chain, the project required meticulous planning and cooperation, allowing for the efficient switch to the new profile.
