Smart hybrid heat pumps

When it comes to housing provision, social landlords have some tough decisions to make; how to transition their housing stock so it is fit for a net-zero world, while continuing to deliver social value for their tenants.

For heating homes, the aim is to make heating low carbon and affordable without compromising comfort. The challenge, however, is how to achieve low carbon heating without incurring costs that could inadvertently tip tenants into fuel poverty.

The introduction of the Future Homes Standard in 2025 mandates the use of low carbon heating for all new-build homes in England. Similar rules are also proposed for Scottish and Welsh homes by their respective governments. However, there are over four million existing social homes in the UK that also need to move away from fossil fuels if we are to achieve our net-zero ambitions. How we electrify the UK’s domestic heating is one of the country’s most challenging problems.

indoor air quality - lungs diagram

We’re all acutely aware of how air pollution can affect tenants' health. For too long, air pollution has been considered as an “outdoor problem”. But what about the air inside homes? After all, it’s the same air, just trapped within four walls. And, trapped as it is, it is susceptible to all kinds of indoor pollutants.

We spend around 90% of our time indoors, so it’s vital that the air we breathe there is clean. Together with leading air conditioning unit supplier Daikin, we explore the risks of toxins building up and reducing the air quality within the home, and what can be done to improve indoor air quality.

For over 65 years, Sangamo has been manufacturing its famous Round Pattern Time Switches to the same high standard that was first achieved back in the 1950’s.  With over 11 million units sold to date, the installation of a Sangamo Round Pattern Time Switch (RPTS) used to be a regular job for many electricians. Despite the electro-mechanical time switches being less common today, the company still reports sales of thousands of units each month, both as replacements and as brand new installations.

New app-based metering solution for heat networks leads digital charge

SAV Systems and Insite Energy join forces to launch the first-to-market digital smart metering app for heat networks. The solution is designed to reduce capital and operational expenditure and make energy data accessible to both the heat supplier and consumer.
25th November 2019: KURVE – the UK’s first app-based metering solution for heat networks – has been launched as the result of a collaboration between industry specialists, Insite Energy and SAV Systems. The digital metering app is set to transform energy metering, billing, and payments with a system that is more affordable, flexible, functional, easy to install and cheaper to run than established pay-as-you (PAYG) alternatives.

Vent-Axia, the market-leading British ventilation manufacturer, is delighted to have been named in the UK Business Superbrand list for 2019. The award follows robust independent research commissioned by The Centre for Brand Analysis (TCBA), which identifies the UK’s Superbrands in an annual league table. The ranking, which has been tracking the UK’s leading business-to-business (B2B) brands since 2001, recognises the company for quality, reliability and distinction.
The UK Business Superbrand is considered the Business-to-Business brand barometer. The annual Business Superbrand survey involves voting undertaken by marketing experts and business professionals. Brands do not apply or pay to be considered; rather an extensive database of UK brands is compiled using a wide range of sources from sector reports to industry league tables.
