Saint-Gobain Off-Site Solutions is celebrating securing a place on the Offsite Homes Alliance’s £2 billion off-site national modular construction framework.
Saint-Gobain Off-Site Solutions has been appointed to deliver panelised modern methods of construction (CAT2) over the next four years on the OSHA Framework, administrated by Great Places Housing Group, to supply homes to its 23 members and to future new members of the alliance.

New national data analysis has revealed the top 10 homelessness spots* in England, with Cornwall at the top of the list.

The research was commissioned by HAAUUSS, a spin off from Velocity RDT – a company which designs and manufactures affordable, technologically advanced temporary housing – to discover the extent of homelessness across local authorities in England. 

Connect Modular Ltd has been appointed by North Ayrshire Council to deliver six new amenity bungalows at Afton Court, Stevenston.
The development, which is supported by a Scottish Government grant, will see construction of two one-bedroom and four two-bedroom affordable homes in the heart of the Ayrshire town.
This is the second time North Ayrshire has partnered with Connect Modular to deliver new affordable housing using the innovative modular construction method. In 2019, Connect Modular constructed 31 modular affordable homes for North Ayrshire Council on Ardrossan Road, Seamill and Jennifer Higgins, Managing Director of Connect Modular, is pleased to have won this repeat business.

The resounding message to new Government is clear - we need affordable, well designed and energy efficient homes that address the significant issues of fuel poverty and climate change. Sustainable building methods and renewable energy are pivotal in delivering a sustainable solution.
We live in a time where people are beginning to wake up to the threat of climate change. Something must be done. Increased onus now rightly resides on housebuilders to deliver sustainable and energy efficient homes as part of the greater effort to reduce CO2 emissions, energy consumption and waste as an industry. These environmental considerations will transform how our buildings are constructed, what materials are used and which methods are employed.

A variety of wall construction membranes, roofing underlays and accessories from Protect Membranes has been used by modular construction specialists Totally Modular as part of an innovative pilot scheme, built offsite on behalf of social housing provider Citizen in partnership with Coventry City Council.

There is no doubt that the need to build more houses has become one of the key issues for all political parties and it is great news to see both government and opposition expressing determination to increase the number of affordable and rented homes.  The challenge, of course, is how to actually build them.
